Base tranquilidad was I have always called the first place where we wanted to dwell in the farm. This name came up because of the Sea of Tranquility, the first place where humans landed on the moon.

At the beginning it was just a motorhome, then a deck with a geodesic dome, then a shower and cleaning area, and after 5 years also has also two workshops in shipping containers, a greenhouse, another small geodesic dome, a biodigestor, a chicken coop, a garage and a roof that has been harvesting all my living water for 5 years. 

The main project and design endeavor has been the initial geodesic dome. Conceptually it has always been aimed to host the main living area, with a kitchen, a couch, stove, but with the years it developed also into a foyer for the home theater extension I developed in 2026, and that’s part of the Nuovo Cinema & Paradiso project.

To fit that dome, I built a 100 m2 deck, and I know, this is not something huge, but for someone who at time hasn’t built big things, 5 tons of hardwood, over 300 boards of eucalyptus, and more than 3000 nails was big. And if you know me, I think anyone should start with smaller structures, but I was in 2020 with such an enthusiasm to get things done that nothing could stop me, today I don’t recall the timing, but it was in a record time, I worked every day, no matter the rain, the hotness, or anything.

This is probably a subject of another matter, but feeling the urge and the strength to do something big can be so powerful that if that doesn’t feel alive I don’t know what it is. Let’s toast for those moments!
